History

It was a dark and stormy night, or possibly a light breezy afternoon -- the problem was I couldn't tell. The building I was in had neither windows nor skylights. Bothered by this a conversation began with a friend and we decided a plan of action was necessary. We decided to get a few people together and charter a group we vaguely referred to as "The Alliance." Realizing that it was the same name as an evil organization on one of my favorite TV shows (ABC's Alias) we decided to meet and deal with that among other details.

We met in a coffeehouse and talked at length about how we would come together. Unfortunately we got involved at length with another table about ecology thus our progress was relatively curtailed. Our current name is The Alliance for the Protection of Earth's Future (APEF) an acronym shared be what seems to be a large number of South American soccer teams. For now I think we will stick with the name as I do like it. After the first few meetings the decision was unanimous, education should be our priority.

The rest sort of fell into place. There were a few bumps, like doing all the layouts at midnight the day before it all had to go to the printer. The first issue was as fun as it was difficult and I hope that I will be able to say the same for further issues.
